Introducing Your Instructor & Lecturer

Professor Ray

Driver Safety Training  &  Driver Education Director

Professor Ray joined the Air Force in 1967, and because of previous training and experience in electronics; he was able to bypass the Air Force training school, receiving the title of, Ground Communication Bypass Specialist Engineer. After a few years as a ground communications Technician and Engineer, Professor Ray transferred to driver instruction and Driver Safety, becoming certified as, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Driver Safety Department. The Matrix System for Driver Safety was one of the courses taken in the Air Force. One of Professor Ray’s priorities was to achieve 85 percent of the squadron with a driver’s license. One hundred percent was achieved within six months. Upon leaving the Air force, Professor Ray began teaching in various driving schools in New York. In 1976 Professor Ray took the thirty hour course for driver safety, attending the second thirty hour course for teaching methodology for driving instruction in 1978.

Throughout Professor Ray’s thirty years as a driving instructor he has taught the Smith System, Pre-Licensing Safety Class, and Accident Prevention Class (better known as the Six hour Insurance Reduction Class). He has also managed and was a director of a driving school, and for over 14 years Professor Ray owned a driving school. For many years Professor Ray taught new and experienced instructors how to teach Drivers Ed students and adult students to drive. Many of Professor Ray’s instructors were transferred to other Driving schools and some others were sent to teach Drivers Ed throughout New York City. Unfortunately, because of the September 11 tragedy, Professor Ray was forced to close the school due to the economic and psychological instability of the community stemming from the crisis.

Professor Ray has been a guest speaker on many occasions for driver safety and maintains an active roll on progressive driver safety programs and market  research.

Professor Ray establishes research methods and design formats for data gathering, by examining and analyzing data to forecast marketing trends.

Professor Ray differs from regular driving instructors because of his passion and continuous research on driver safety, physics, and the ever changing driver characteristics.  Professor Ray, not only teaches current students how to drive, and advanced vehicle operators how to become advanced drivers, and companies and corporations how to decrease their percentage of employee car crashes. The past 32 years, Professor Ray has studied the ever growing and changing traffic picture with its natural laws of kinetics and inertia, and the science of driver behavior.
